I got my car serviced today and my summer tires installed.
Sure, I know the forecast calls for six inches of snow tonight, but I have my reasons.
And the best reason is, it’s one more thing to cross off my to-do list.
I’m retired. Which means I’ve been fitted with a new set of expectations. I’m retired, so I can do all those jobs which other community volunteers have no time to do because they are gainfully employed. This past week I’ve probably logged 30 hours of community service.
But I AM gainfully employed. I write. And lately, I’ve been making a book. Literally making a book. I have one more step to do. I have to upload my cover to the printing service. It would have been done already except that my Internet connection has been dragging its feet all day. It could use a set of wheels.
I parked out on the road tonight because I will not be able to get out of my driveway tomorrow. Probably can’t drive down the road either. Maybe I’ll get lucky . . . and my Internet service will come to a screeching halt. It’s a satellite connection, so atmospheric conditions can play havoc.
But. My car is ready for summer. So.
Bring it on.
