Twelve years ago a fire swept through the forest here. This is how it looked today, September 27th.

Folks, my home Internet connection is still down.  Occasionally I borrow a connection when I go visiting.

The above photo I shot today between Beardmore and Orient Bay (north of Nipigon).  This week the leaves of this corner of the boreal forest chose to turn gorgeous.  This landscape burnt over in 1999, and plays a major role in my novel The Beardmore Relics.

The photo below was taken today on our property at Wildgoose Lake.  This is the second day of one of the last gasps of summer.  The weatherman promises us more such days over the next few weeks.  We are so, so lucky.

Despite some frosty mornings, the geraniums are thriving.
