[What’s so great about traditional publishing? One watchword is legitimacy. That idea is not going away anytime soon.
However. Many of the other benefits writers have “traditionally” associated with “traditional” publishing, are being demythologized. One “benefit” is marketing. I am discovering that nowadays, traditional publishers expect you, the writer, to assume the burden and the cost of marketing. So much for THAT benefit.
